Brashear at Macon County February 22, 2008


The Tigers split a pair of Conference games with the Raiders to wrap up regular season play.


Any two of the Lady Tigers six players provided enough offense to match or overcome the Macon County Lady Raiders in a 68-15 romp Friday. Brashear jumped out to a 14-3 lead after one quarter, then held Macon County scoreless in the 2nd to go into halftime leading 39-3. The Lady Raiders found a little offensive spark in the 3rd quarter scoring 12 points, but Brashear answered with 17 to lead 56-15. Brashear held Macon County scoreless again in the 4th to grab the 68-15 win. Hailee Kelsey led Brashear with 19 points, Abby McKim had 13, Emily Ladwig scored 11, Caroline Slavin and Jessi Hill had 10 each, and Stephanie Elsea scored 5 points. For Macon County, Alyssa Peterson scored 5 points, Ashley Young had 4, Kerry Compton had 3, Katie Levett had 2, and Laura Bixenman scored 1 point.


The boys game was a barn-burner that saw numerous lead changes through the 1st 3 quarters of play. Macon County led 17-16 after the 1st quarter and 26-23 at halftime. Macon County held a 40-36 advantage after 3 periods of play, then caught fire early in the 4th quarter and ran up a double-digit lead before Brashear fought back within 4 points with under a minute left. The Tigers could not close the gap further and took the loss by a score of 57-52. For Brashear, Kale Watson and Trae Treasure were in double figures with 13 and 12 points. Kiley Watson and Ryan Ferdig had 7 points each, Jacob Shipman had 6, Matt Thomas had 5, and Justin Hazen scored 2 points. Josh Bailey led Macon County with 20 points, Andy Thompson had 16, Josh Lusher added 8, Ethan Thompson had 7, Joel Atha had 3, Zach Martin had 2, and Wade Burstert scored 1 point.
